Iowa Clubs connect Hawkeyes in more than 60 cities across the country and around the world. Wear your black and gold proudly as you cheer on the Hawkeyes, attend networking and cultural events, and raise scholarship funds for Iowa students from the D.C. area. Members routinely welcome Hawkeye student interns who are matched with local alumni to answer questions, network, and serve as mentors. Capital Area club members also greet Iowa veterans at the World War II Monument as part of Honor Flight visits each spring and fall.

Off the Beaten Path

Also known as the Brewmaster's Castle, this is a grand 31-room Bavarian palace built in the 1890s with marble stairways and 15 fireplaces.

Located outside of the National Academy of Sciences building, the 12 feet-tall figure of Einstein also includes a star map at the base of the statue.

For history (and maybe movie) buffs, this memorial is in Washington Channel Park in the Southwest Waterfront. It honors the men who died during the sinking of the Titanic in 1912.

Thomas Wickham Jr. (90BA, 94JD), a University of Iowa Distinguished Alumni Award winner, served as parliamentarian for the U.S. House of Representatives from 2012 to 2020.
